Turnpike pass program
HARRISBURG (AP) -- Drivers of trucks, buses and other commercial vehicles could begin using the Pennsylvania Turnpike's automated E-ZPass toll payment system Saturday.
Enrollment of commercial customers began in November. Turnpike officials estimate that 75,000 to 100,000 commercial vehicles will use E-ZPass in the coming weeks.
About 250,000 E-ZPass tags have been issued since the system was introduced for noncommercial vehicles in December 2000. It is available at 37 turnpike exits. Motorists buy special tags that are affixed to their cars and scanned by cameras at pass-through toll booths reserved for E-ZPass customers. The tolls are deducted electronically from a prepaid account.
Customers can enroll at www.paturnpike.com or by calling (877) PENNPASS and requesting a commercial enrollment package.
