Beckinger-Varso wedding planned for early spring

XAUSTINTOWN -- Announcing their engagement and plans for a spring wedding are Melissa Beckinger and Shawn Varso, both of Austintown.
Parents of the bride-elect are Bentley and Marilyn Beckinger of West Newton, Pa., and the future groom is a son of Linda Varso of Lake Milton and the late James Varso.
The couple have chosen May 3, 2003, for their open wedding at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, and their reception will be held by invitation that evening at St. Nicholas Byzantine Center, Youngstown.
Miss Beckinger graduated from Seton Hill College in Greensburg, Pa., with a bachelor's degree in sociology and a teaching certification in early childhood education. She is an education specialist with Youngstown Area Community Action Council Head Start.
Mr. Varso, a police officer with Youngstown Police Department, graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
