NBA Walker leads Celtics past Cavs, 115-100
He had his 13th triple-double of his career and overshadowed Cleveland's Ricky Davis.
BOSTON (AP) -- Antoine Walker had one of his best games of the season. Teammates Tony Battie and Paul Pierce came back from one they'd like to forget.
Walker had the 13th triple-double of his career with a season-high 33 points as the Celtics beat Cleveland 115-100 Friday night despite Ricky Davis' second game of the week with more than 40 points.
Battie added a career-high 24 points after serving a one-game suspension for kicking a ball that hit a referee. Pierce had 21 points after having surgery Friday afternoon on two front teeth that were chipped when he hit the floor Wednesday night in a loss to Phoenix.
"The first two times he had the basketball he just ducked his head and took it to the rim, which was a nice thing to see," Boston coach Jim O'Brien said.
Battie shot 10-of-14 and blocked two shots
"I never had anything to prove," he said. "I felt a little bad because I missed" Wednesday's game.
Walker had 11 rebounds and 10 of Boston's season-high 31 assists for his second triple-double of the season. He went 8-of-13 from 3-point range but also committed seven turnovers in 47 minutes.
Davis hits 42 points
Davis led all scorers with 42 points on 17-of-26 shooting and added eight assists four nights after he scored a season-high 45.
"It makes you feel good and it keeps boosting my confidence," he said after Cleveland's 12th straight road loss. "I'd be happier if we can pull out the win the next time I get 40."
Even Walker was impressed as Davis scored 11, including three 3-pointers, in an 18-7 run that cut Boston's 65-53 lead to 72-71 with 6:41 left in the third quarter.
"We played against the hottest guy besides Kobe Bryant I've ever played against so far this year," Walker said. "It was a gutsy win."
Eric Williams had a career-high 12 rebounds for Boston, which won its seventh straight against Cleveland.
The Cavaliers' only leads were 2-0 and 4-2 despite a strong game by Milt Palacio with a season-high 13 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
But rookie Dajuan Wagner scored only three points after leading the Cavaliers in scoring in five of their previous seven games.
The Celtics led 63-53 at halftime and 65-53 on Battie's two free throws. Then Cleveland went on the 18-7 surge. But Boston opened a 93-84 lead at the end of the quarter as Walker had eight of its last 19 points in the period.
The closest Cleveland came in the fourth quarter was 93-86 on Davis' layup.
"We're young and it's hard to get wins on the road," Cleveland coach John Lucas said. "I thought we were a little intimidated by Pierce and Walker after hearing so much about them."
Hot-shooting Celtics
The Celtics led 40-23 after one quarter as they hit 74 percent of their shots. Just 3:30 into the second, Pierce and Walker had combined for 33 points, matching the Cavaliers total as Boston led 52-33.
That was the Celtics biggest lead of the game.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 18 points and 11 rebounds, but the Cavaliers remained winless on the road since they beat the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 30.
