HERMITAGE Good Fellows seeks help playing Santa
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The Hermitage Good Fellows, an anonymous group of men and women who make it their business to provide holiday cheer for the less fortunate, is looking for help.
The organization, founded in the mid-1950s, provides a food basket and toys to families in need each Christmas.
Donations of repairable toys, canned food and money for the project are being accepted now, and the Good Fellows will meet from 7 to 9:30 p.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the municipal garage on Virginia Road from now until Christmas to sort and repair toys and prepare food boxes.
Volunteers needed
The group is looking for volunteers to help with those tasks.
On Christmas Eve, designated Santa Clauses will pile into trucks to make their deliveries, visiting an estimated 150 families that night.
Toys and nonperishable food items can be dropped off at the municipal garage, Hermitage Central Fire Station on Highland Road, Ponderosa Restaurant on East State Street or Rice Pool & amp; Spa at East State Street and Easton Road.
Clothing or old stuffed or plush animals won't be accepted.
To send money
Monetary donations should be sent to the Good Fellows at 2511 Highland Road, Hermitage, Pa. 16148.
Anyone who knows of a Hermitage family in need can send a note to the group at the same address. The note should contain the family name, children's names and ages and home address.
