RECOGNITION Meals on Wheels volunteers feted at appreciation dinner
Drivers deliver 600 meals each month to clients in the Columbiana area.
COLUMBIANA -- "Volunteers Make a Difference" was the theme of an appreciation dinner Dec. 5 at which more than 60 volunteers were singled out for recognition by Columbiana Area Meals on Wheels Board of Directors.
The event was held at Heck's Restaurant, where each volunteer received a mug, filled with candy and decorated for the Christmas season by Colleen Welton, program coordinator, and a bookmark created by the multimedia students at Columbiana County Career and Technical Center.
UHonored for 11 to 18 years of service were: Jean Candel, Bonnie Moser, Bea Weber, Tommie Keck, Janice Kimple, Bud Moser and Marge Wise.
UThose recognized for 6 to 10 years of service were: Billie Votaw, Dorothy Posey, Marilyn Wire, Shirley Bell, John McGeehan, and Joan and Glen Roth.
UThe one- to five-year volunteers who were honored were: Janette Schmidt, Vera Witmer, Chris and Kelly McCoy, Sarah Weaver, Cindy McCoy, Nancy and Lee Panneton, Walt Schmidt, Elsie VanPelt, Esther Riehl and Mo Meisner.

Recognized for providing continuing financial support for the program was the Jerusalem Lutheran Church, represented by the Rev. David Conrad, and the Columbiana Community Foundation, represented by Norm Spiker.
Chris McCoy accepted congratulations on behalf of the five other members of East Fairfield Methodist Church Boy Scout Troop 40, who helped make 12 wooden snowmen to be delivered to clients of the program.
Also feted during the evening were a number of part-time volunteers and drivers.
