NEW HIRES Safety forces



The township police and fire departments will bring on 13 new staff members in January. Those newly hired:
POLICE
Karen E. Lewis, 26, of Boardman. Graduate of Boardman High School and Youngstown State University; currently a workers' compensation claims administrator at Modern Builders Supply and part-time security officer at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Heather M. Englert, 24, of Austintown. Graduate of Salem High School and YSU. Currently she is a security officer at Kauffman's Distribution Center in North Jackson and a part-time police officer for McDonald village.
Matthew M. Gilbert, 32, of Georgia. Graduate of Quaker Valley High School near Pittsburgh and Robert Morris College; has been a full-time police officer with the Gwinnett County, Ga., Police Department.
Jonathan D. Martin, 28, of New Middletown. Graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and YSU; served as a reserve police officer in Austintown and a part-time officer in Lowellville and New Middletown.
Michael D. Salser, 40, of Poland. Graduate of Poland Seminary High School; has been a full-time corrections officer at the Ohio State Penitentiary in Youngstown and part-time deputy with Mahoning County Sheriff's Office.
Stephen J. Dubos, 23, of Newton Falls. Graduate of Newton Falls High School and Kent State University, currently attending YSU; currently a part-time police officer for Canfield city and a part-time firefighter/EMT for Newton Falls Fire Department.
Jamison A. Diglaw, 26, of Austintown. Graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and YSU; full-time deputy with Mahoning County Sheriff's Department for two years and part-time police officer with Weathersfield Township since June 2000.
Anthony R. Daprile, 25, of Boardman. Graduate of Boardman High School and YSU; currently a manager for Rainbow Rentals in Niles.
FIRE
Jeff Galimore, 28, of London, Ohio. Paramedic, CPR instructor, fire service instructor; has completed state-required firefighter certification. Works for Orange Township Fire Department.
Cliff Phillips, 28, of Warren. Paramedic and has completed state certification. Works for Howland Fire Department.
Jason Osborne, 25, of Columbiana. EMT, fire service instructor and fire investigator. Has completed certification. Volunteer firefighter for Beaver Township.
Gary Hemphill, 33, of North Jackson. First responder; working on certification. Captain for North Jackson Volunteer department.
Shawn Rappach, 21, of Youngstown. EMT; completed certification. Works for Youngstown Fire Department.
