Trumbull group plans Sept. festival
WARREN -- The Trumbull County Historical Society has invited more than 30 people and organizations to help plan a Pioneer Festival for Sept. 20-21 in Warren's Historic District.
The meeting will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the second-floor conference room of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, Mahoning Avenue.
Dave Ambrose, society president, will lead the session.
County historical organizations and other cultural groups are encouraged to attend the planning session to help determine how they can become involved in the Pioneer Festival, an event to celebrate Trumbull County's early years and Ohio's bicentennial. Various activities and programs are planned for the weekend.
The historical society will sponsor a Pioneer Crafter Village at the John Stark Edwards House, the society's headquarters in Warren and the oldest building in the county, built in 1807.
Another scheduled activity during the festival weekend is the Warren Junior Women's League Holiday Showcase in the nearby Kinsman House.
Those groups interested in participating in the Pioneer Festival who are unable to attend the planning meeting or people who want more information may call Ambrose at (330) 372-4873 or e-mail him at ambrose@infohio.org.
