STRUTHERS Parents give school district a passing grade, poll shows



STRUTHERS -- Parents approve of the operations within the city school district, the school buildings and the classrooms, according to results of a recent poll.
Overall, 79.4 percent of parents indicated they agree with the manner in which the school district operates; 80.8 percent agree with the way buildings operate; and 93.8 percent agree with how classrooms operate.
Other results:
*At Struthers Elementary School, 205 parents said they agree with the district, and 40 said they disagree; 208 agree with building policies, and 53 do not; and 275 said they agree with classroom policy, and 4 four said they do not.
*At the Manor Street School, nine parents said they agree with the district, and 10 said they disagree; 11 said they agree with building policy, and six said they do not; and eight said they agree with classroom policy, and nine disagree.
*At the Center Street School, 25 parents said they agree with the district, and two said they disagree; 25 agree with building policy, and three disagree; and 27 said they agree with classroom policy, and one disagrees.
*At Sexton, 56 parents unanimously said they agree with the district, building and classroom policies.
*At Struthers High School, 76 parents agreed with the district, and 44 disagreed; 88 agreed with building policy, and 92 disagreed; and 466 approved of classroom policy, and 31 disapproved.
Negative comments focused on attendance and holiday policies, the grading system, instruction and facilities.
