Member sought for board of education
LIBERTY -- The Liberty Board of Education is looking for a new member.
A vacancy on the five-member panel will be created when Marc Dann becomes the new 32nd District state senator in January.
Dann defeated two other Trumbull County candidates, Girard Councilman John Moliterno and Warren Councilman Daniel Polivka, and Joseph Varckette, former Ashtabula city manager, during Tuesday's voting by Senate Democrats.
Dann will replace U.S. Rep.-elect Tim Ryan.
Superintendent Larry Prince said those interested in filling Dann's seat should send letters of interest and r & eacute;sum & eacute;s to board president Robert Lackey, 4115 Shady Road, Youngstown 44505.
Prince added that an application form must be completed and can be obtained at the board of education office. Norma Williams, director of the Trumbull County Board of Elections, said the candidate named to the nonpartisan post will serve through 2003.
The new member will have to run for the unexpired term in November 2003 to serve in 2004 and 2005. Board members serve four-year terms.
