Kansas deals first defeat to No. 17-ranked Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. -- Nick Collison had 26 points and 12 rebounds as 20th-ranked Kansas handed No. 17 Tulsa its first loss this season, beating the Golden Hurricane 89-80 Wednesday night.
Keith Langford and Wayne Simien scored 19 apiece for the Jayhawks (4-3) who had lost three of their past four games.
Tulsa (4-1) got 23 points from Kevin Johnson, who excelled despite foul trouble.
Langford scored three baskets during a 12-0 run that turned a 45-38 deficit into a 50-45 lead. Johnson sat for a part of that time after getting his third foul.
Tulsa got within 69-65 with just under six minutes to play, but Kansas sealed it with a 10-1 run that included four points from Collison.
Wis.-Milwaukee 75, Valparaiso 61
MILWAUKEE -- Dylan Page scored 25 points and Ronnie Jones added 11 for Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
The Panthers (6-2), with five consecutive wins, are off to their best start since the 1992-93 season when they won their first eight games.
Valparaiso (2-4), which lost its third straight game, was led by Raitis Grafs with 15 points.
Toledo 98, Wright St. 84
DAYTON -- Keith Triplett scored 21 points to lead four Toledo players in double figures.
Sammy Villegas scored 18 points, Nick Moore 17 and Anton Currie 16.
Seth Doliboa scored 24 points and Vernard Hollins 20 for Wright State.
Michigan 83, Bowling Green 57
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Daniel Horton scored a career-high 26 points, with 24 coming in the first half, for the Wolverines' first win of the season.
Horton, a freshman point guard, made 9-of-11 shots in the first half -- including 4-of-5 3-pointers -- to help Michigan earn a 43-30 lead at halftime.
LaVell Blanchard had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Bernard Robinson added 20 points for Michigan (1-6).
Kevin Netter, who picked up his third foul with five minutes remaining in the first half, scored 20 to lead the Falcons (2-3).
Temple 65, Penn St. 63
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Alex Wesby scored 19 points and David Hawkins hit two foul shots with 7.1 seconds remaining.
The win was Temple's first of the season, despite coach John Chaney not being at the game. Chaney was released from Temple University Hospital after being admitted Sunday with pneumonia.
Hawkins scored 19 points and had seven steals for Temple (1-5).
Sharif Chambliss led Penn State (0-6) with 18 points.
But Chambliss missed a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left that would have given the Lions a one-point lead.
Wisconsin 85, New Hampshire 36
MADISON, Wis. -- Wisconsin was led by Freddie Owens, with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field.
Kirk Penney added 16 points for the Badgers (6-1).
New Hampshire (1-6) was led by Ronnie Dennis with 12 points.
Akron 85, Iona 78
AKRON -- John Hollingsworth scored a game-high 26 points as Akron, which failed to make a basket in the final 3 1/2 minutes, withstood a late slump.
Hollingsworth added five rebounds and two assists for Akron (3-3). Derrick Tarver had 19 points and Darryl Peterson and Rob Preston had 12 apiece.
Iona (4-3) was led by Steve Smith's 20 points. Ricky Soliver had 15 points and Steve Burtt Jr. had 12.
