BOYS BASKETBALL Hubbard wins in overtime; Champion streaks by Ridge
Jason Lenzi's 32 points sparked Hubbard to an overtime win over Niles.
HUBBARD -- Jason Lenzi scored seven of his 32 points in overtime, as the Hubbard High boys basketball team beat Niles 70-66 Tuesday.
Lenzi was 12-for-13 from the foul line.
Jeff Jablonski added 10 points for the Eagles.
The game was tied at 25 at the half and at 54 at the end of regulation.
Tim Rupert paced Niles with 24 points and Dan Jones added 19.
Brookfield 77, Lordstown 44
BROOKFIELD -- Chris Davis scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Brookfield (3-1).
Greg Kohler and Mike Quaglia scored 12 points each to aid the Warriors, while Jim Litman contributed seven rebounds and Chad Fonagy nine points with five assists.
Jason Darocha had 10 points to pace Lordstown.
Champion 86, Mineral Ridge 52
MINERAL RIDGE -- Mark Kish made four 3-point goals and collected 27 points, while Josh Ozanich added 17 points for the Golden Flashes (2-1).
Champion made 12 3-pointers and the Rams (0-2) made eight more.
Kevin Stingel also scored 12 points and Adam Lantz had 11 for the Flashes, who led 26-12 after eight minutes and 50-24 at the break.
Brandon Linert and Andrew Whitmer each had 13 points for the Rams.
Maplewood 67, Badger 59
MECCA -- Jeremy Mohorick poured in 20 points and grabbed five rebounds, while Matt Chronister backed him up with 16 points for the Rockets (3-1).
Maplewood led just 42-40 after three quarters but used a 25-point fourth quarter to put the game away.
Mitch Logan scored 15 points, Tyler Bonar had 12 points and Tyler Romine scored 10 points for the Braves.
Shenango 88, Youngstown Christian 45
SHENANGO, Pa. -- Shenango put four players in double figures.
Dan Aven led the Wildcats' (4-1) balanced attack with 17 points. Stephen McNees chipped in with 16 and he had eight assists and four steals.
Matt Norge and Terry Grosetti, who grabbed seven rebounds, each had 15 points.
Chris Suseceynski led the Eagles with nine points. Shenango had a 43-25 rebounding advantage.
Mohawk 56, Monaca 53
BESSMER, Pa. -- Mohawk (4-1) jumped out to a 17-12 lead in the first quarter, then held on to edge Monaca.
Chris Kwolek fired in 26 points, while Shawn Carr added 22 to spark the Warriors.
Carr pulled down 10 of 21 rebounds.
Keith Bloom led Monaca with 19 points and grabbed seven of 19 rebounds.
