Santa to visit village
LOWELLVILLE -- The village firefighters' association will sponsor a visit from Santa at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Mount Carmel Society social hall. Santa will arrive atop a fire engine and will distribute treats to all children in attendance.
Professor to sign books
NILES -- Dr. Stephen Sniderman, author and professor of English at Youngstown State University, will sign his book "Language Lovers' Word Puzzles" from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Borders Books, 2102 Niles-Cortland Road S.E.
Farm-equipment class
WARREN -- A 12-week course on safely operating farm equipment will be Wednesday nights starting Jan. 8.
Participants ages 14 to 16 will earn certification to legally operate a tractor or other farm machinery on any farm. Children older than 9 also may take the class as a 4-H project. The cost is $18.
For a registration form, call the Ohio State University Extension, Trumbull County Office, at (330) 675-2595. The classes will run from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Banner Farm in Girard.
Girard Christmas event
GIRARD -- A free community Christmas program will be presented at the Girard Multi-Generational Center, Tod Woods school building, Trumbull Avenue, at 2 p.m. Sunday.
The Girard Community Band will play and the Girard High School Choir will sing. DJ for the event will be Cosmo, who is sponsoring the event along with the center.
Adult computer labs
LIBERTY -- Liberty schools will have adult computer lab nights in the coming weeks.
Open computer labs are available for township residents -- those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult -- from 6:30-9 p.m. Thursdays from Jan. 9 through March 20. The lab will be closed Feb. 13. The labs will be at W.S. Guy School, 4115 Shady Road.
