MINERAL RIDGE Trustees to decide between two for zoning commission vacancy

MINERAL RIDGE -- Two people have applied for an opening on the Weathersfield Township Zoning Commission, a vacancy created because of the retirement of longtime commission member Harlan Collier.
Deadline for applications was Friday. Originally, there were two seats open, however, Lydia Infante informed township trustees she will continue as a commission member. She also is chairman of the township zoning appeals board.
Zoning commission members are appointed to five-year terms and are paid $25 per meeting.
Applicants are Mary Ann Davis, Oakview Drive, and James Sweeney, West Liberty Street, both in Girard.
Davis obtained certification as a paralegal from Youngstown State University and has been employed as a paralegal and a receptionist.
Sweeney, a retired signal linesman from the city of Youngstown's Fire and Traffic Signal Department, has a computer training diploma from Yiedemann Division of Warner and Swasey, King of Prussia, Pa., attended various seminars in management training, studied electronics at the ATES Technical School, Niles, and is certified in basic electronics from International Correspondence Schools.
Sherry Craver, zoning inspector, said township trustees will select Collier's replacement at their meeting next Tuesday.
