Man indicted in Hermitage bank robbery

PITTSBURGH -- A Pittsburgh man has been indicted on a federal bank robbery charge in the May 24 robbery of the National City Bank branch office at 2470 E. State St., Hermitage.
A grand jury indicted Christopher M. Lyons, 22, of Victoria Drive, Pittsburgh, for a total of five bank robberies Friday. He remains in Allegheny County Jail where he is being held without bond.
Authorities said they believe Lyons is the man who took an undisclosed amount of money from the National City office on State Street in Hermitage shortly after 7 p.m. May 24. The other five banks are all in the greater Pittsburgh area.
Authorities said he didn't show a weapon in the Hermitage robbery but handed a teller a note saying that he was robbing the bank and that he would kill her if she didn't comply.
Police said the teller handed over some cash and the man made her give back his note before fleeing the area on foot. He didn't leave any fingerprints, but the bank's photo surveillance system got his picture, they said.
