DURHAM, N.C. -- Alana Beard scored 19 of her season-high 29 points in the second half as Duke won the championship game of the Duke Women's Basketball Classic. Beard, who was 13-of-17 from the field, had nine rebounds and three steals and was selected most valuable player. Mistie Bass added 16 points and Sheana Mosch had 10 for Duke (7-0). Stephanie Graff and Amra Mehmedic each scored 11 points for Saint Joseph's (2-3).
No. 3 Connecticut 68,Southern California 44
HARTFORD, Conn. -- Diana Taurasi scored 24 points, had a career-high 14 rebounds and blocked six shots to lead Connecticut to its 46th straight win. The winning streak ties the 1996-98 Tennessee Lady Vols for the second longest in the NCAA. Louisiana Tech holds the NCAA record with 54 straight victories from 1980-82. Freshman forward Willnett Crockett had a career-high 11 points for UConn (7-0). Ebony Hoffman had 22 points and 14 rebounds, and Aisha Hollans added 11 points for USC (4-3), which turned in the worst shooting performance in program history, going 12-of-66 (18.2 percent).

BOSTON -- Lindsay Whalen scored 25 points, and Kim Prince added 16 to lead Minnesota to its seventh straight win. Janel McCarville contributed 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds as Minnesota went 36-of-63 (57 percent) from the field and 18-of-20 on free throws. Hana Peljto paced Harvard (4-2) with 23 points and nine rebounds. Reka Cserny scored 13 points.

ATHENS, Ga. -- Christi Thomas scored a season-high 26 points and freshman Sherril Baker added a career-high 19 for Georgia, which delivered career victory No. 650 to coach Andy Landers. The 6-foot-5 Thomas and 6-6 Kara Braxton controlled inside against Oakland (2-3), which had no player taller than 6-1. Braxton had 20 points and 13 rebounds for Georgia (4-2). Katie Wolfe scored 24 for Oakland.
No. 16 North Carolina 90,Old Dominion 54
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Candace Sutton had 17 points and six rebounds to lead North Carolina to its sixth win in seven games. Corretta Brown added 16, including 11 in the opening five minutes, and North Carolina seized control by outscoring the Lady Monarchs 34-12 over the final 15 minutes of the period. Shareese Grant led Old Dominion (1-4) with 23 points on 10-for-17 shooting.

TUCSON, Ariz. -- Shawntinice Polk became the first Arizona player to have a double-double in five straight games, finishing with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Dee-Dee Wheeler scored 15 points and Krista Warren and Aimee Grzyb each scored 14 for the Wildcats (4-1). Tiffane Guthrie scored a career-high 30 points for Illinois (5-1). Aminata Yanni added 16 points.
