NHL Tampa Bay suffers skate fate

Boston's 3-2 win was over the Lightning. The Bruins have lost only twice in 14 home games.
BOSTON (AP) -- Things certainly didn't work out right for Tampa Bay.
Bryan Berard tied it when his shot deflected off Andre Roy's right skate in the third period, and Nick Boynton scored the winner 3:11 into overtime in the Boston Bruins' 3-2 victory over the Lightning on Saturday.
The Lightning had a goal overturned midway through the second period after a video replay official ruled the puck was kicked, hit the post and caromed into the net.
Puck redirected
Tampa Bay was up 2-1 midway through the second period when Roy collected a short pass from Fredrik Modin and redirected the puck with his right skate, then jabbed at it with his stick just before the puck crossed the goal line.
Replays were inconclusive whether Roy was able to get his stick on it, but the puck appeared to change direction.
"I got my stick on it right before it crossed the line," Roy said. "I thought it was a goal. I was surprised it was reviewed because I got my stick on it."
Tampa Bay coach John Tortorella was very upset after the game.
"I'm not going to tell you what my view was," he said. "The rule is it's got to be a conclusive call to rule it off."
"It was huge play in the game," Boston's Joe Thornton said.
NHL officials supervisor Denis Morel issued a statement to a pool reporter following the game.
"We checked the replay, and that was the conclusion we came ... distinct kick motion, hit the post and the puck in," he said.
Boynton scored the game-winner by slipping a wrist shot over Nikolai Khabibulin from the slot. Glen Murray had Boston's other goal.
"I just closed my eyes and shot the puck," Boynton said. "That's all I did. I just got lucky."
Poor history
Brad Richards and Dan Boyle scored for Tampa Bay, which has won just once in franchise history at Boston (1-15-4).
Trailing 2-1 in the third period, Boston tied it when Berard collected an errant clearing pass along the boards before firing a shot that caromed off Roy's skate and over Khabibulin's shoulder at 7:57.
The Lightning grabbed a 1-0 lead 7:25 into the game when Richards one-timed a shot from the right circle.
Boyle's slap shot from the slot gave Tampa Bay a 2-0 edge at 15:10 of the first period.
The Bruins cut it to 2-1 early in the second period when Murray slipped a wrist shot just inside the right post from the right circle.
"It's unfortunate that things out of your control end up taking it away from you," Tampa Bay defenseman Brad Lukowich said. "We knew it was a goal."
