NCAA DIV. III Arth's TD in OT earns JC victory
The Blue Streaks advanced to a NCAA Division IIII semifinal against Mount Union next Saturday.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Quarterback Tom Arth ran for a 6-yard touchdown in the first overtime to lead John Carroll to a 16-10 victory against Brockport State in an NCAA Division III Quarterfinal on Saturday at the University of Rochester's Fauver Stadium.
The Blue Streaks (12-1) advance to next week's semifinal at Mount Union, which defeated Wabash 45-16 Saturday. John Carroll lost 35-16 to Mount Union on Oct. 19. Brockport finishes 10-3.
The Golden Eagles had a chance to win the game in the final seconds of regulation.
Mike Condello forced an Arth fumble and Brockport's Billy Glynn recovered at the John Carroll 9. Three plays later, with eight seconds remaining, Mike Laney attempted a 23-yard field goal, but it was blocked by John Carroll defensive back Joey Hunt.
Arth was 11 for 24 for 158 yards and a touchdown, while Ryan DeGeorge had 82 yards on 23 carries for the Blue Streaks.
Senior Adam Webster led the Golden Eagles with 82 yards on 30 carries, and had his 100-yard rushing streak snapped at seven straight.
St. John's (Minn.) 21, Linfield 14
McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- Kent Crowley rushed for 167 yards and coach John Gagliardi won his 400th game as St. John's (Minn.) beat Linfield.
Gagliardi is only the second coach to reach the 400 mark and he is now nine victories away from breaking Eddie Robinson's all-time coaching mark of 408. St. John's advances to Saturday's semifinals against Trinity of Texas.
Quarterback Ross Denne threw for 292 yards and one score, completing 22 of 39 for St. John's (12-1).
David Russell carried 27 times for 161 yards and scored both of Linfield's touchdowns. Tyler Matthews threw for 265 yards, completing 20 of 36, for the Wildcats (10-1).
Trinity 38, Bridgewater 32
BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Roy Hampton passed for 481 yards and four touchdowns and Cory Kuchinsky returned a fumble 15 yards for another score for Trinity.
Hampton connected with Jerheme Urban for scoring plays of 15, 16 and 30 yards, and he hit Matt Federle for a 54-yard TD as the Tigers (13-0) produced 613 yards.
Hampton was 27-for-42 overall with one interception, with Urban catching nine balls for 173 yards and Jason Hunt catching 10 for 132 yards.
