ATLANTA (AP) -- Glenn Robinson and Shareef Abdur-Rahim scored 23 points apiece Saturday as the Atlanta Hawks beat the Detroit Pistons, 94-92.
Robinson added a season-high 13 rebounds for Atlanta, which won its third straight at home and second in a row overall despite a crowd of only 7,856 for the early start.
Richard Hamilton had 25 points for the Pistons, who have lost four of five.
Pull within one
Atlanta led throughout the second half and took an 11-point lead into the fourth quarter. But Detroit steadily cut the margin, getting within one when Theo Ratliff was called for goaltending on a layup by Chucky Atkins.
Atkins also was fouled on the play but missed the free throw, and Abdur-Rahim hit a 15-foot jumper to give the Hawks a 94-91 lead with 1:03 left. Robinson then blocked a shot by Atkins, and grabbed an offensive rebound on the other end to keep the possession alive.
The Pistons had another chance to tie, but Hamilton was fouled before he could get off a 3-pointer with 2.7 seconds left.
He made the first free throw then missed the next intentionally, and grabbed his own rebound. But his fallaway attempt from the baseline bounced off the rim just before the final buzzer.
The Hawks hadn't won back-to-back games since a three-game winning streak ended Nov. 20. They improved to 10-10.
Robinson struggled a bit in the first half, hitting just 3-of-7 for eight points. But he warmed up after halftime, hitting 5-of-7 in the third. Abdur-Rahim carried the load in the fourth, finishing with 10 points in the quarter.
Atkins played most of the game in place of Chauncey Billups (flu) and finished with 14.
The Hawks fell behind by 10 late in the first quarter but roared back to take a 47-37 lead with 36 seconds left in the first half.
They shot 56 percent in the second and held Detroit to 21 percent, holding a 47-38 lead at the break.
The game started at 2 p.m. because the Southeastern Conference championship game was scheduled to start four hours later at the Georgia Dome, which is next to Philips Arena.
