Dubys observe 50th jubilee at Mass, luncheon
XBOARDMAN -- Mr. and Mrs. James Duby of Boardman were honored Nov. 30 at a noon Mass at St. Dominic Church in Youngstown in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary.
A luncheon followed at Antone's Banquet Centre.
Arrangements for the celebration were made by the couple's children and their spouses, Drs. John and Sara Duby of Silver Lake; Nancy and Edward Carlon of Chapin, S.C.; Thomas and Jane Duby of Boardman; Barbara Wilson of Springfield, Pa.; Diane and Michael Teets of Canfield; Gregory and Sherri Duby of Poland; and Atty. James Duby Jr. of East Lansing, Mich. The couple also have five grandchildren.
Mr. Duby and the former Alberta Carney were married Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 1952, at St. Patrick Church in Youngstown. They have been members of St. Dominic Church since 1962. He graduated from the William Rayen School of Engineering at Youngstown College in 1952 and was a group engineer for three years at Goodyear Aircraft in Akron. He worked for U.S. Steel Co. for 25 years until its closing in 1980 and then worked as a supervisor of mechanical design engineering at RMI Titanium in Niles until retiring in 1992.
Mrs. Carney-Duby worked as a long-distance operator for Ohio Bell Telephone Co. in Youngstown and Akron and also was employed at the G.C. Murphy Co. She is a homemaker.
The couple also marked the occasion Thanksgiving Day with dinner at their home with their children and grandchildren. They plan to further celebrate with trips to Florida and South Carolina in the new year.
