FINANCIAL
HUBBARD -- Thomas H. Patrick, a Hubbard native, has been named to the new position of executive vice chairman of Merrill Lynch & amp; Co. Patrick had been the firm's chief financial officer and executive vice president since 2000, and in that role, he was an architect of the company's restructuring program that helped the company cut costs and improve profits.
Patrick joined Merrill Lynch in 1982 when the firm merged with White Weld & amp; Co. in Chicago, where he had been an investment banker specializing in strategic services for the insurance industry. A 1961 Hubbard High School graduate, Patrick has a bachelor's degree in economics from Rutgers University and a master's degree in finance from the University of Pittsburgh. He also completed all course work for a doctorate in finance at Northwestern University.
WARREN -- David L. Mead has been named to the position of chief financial officer for First Place Financial Corp. and senior vice president-chief financial officer for First Place Bank. Mead , a certified public accountant, has more than 20 years of extensive financial banking experience. He came to the company from Capital Holdings Inc., where he was senior vice president and chief financial officer. Mead has a bachelor's degree from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, and a master's in business administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati.
INSURANCE
WARREN -- Hovanic Investment and Insurance Planning has added Pauline Dunsing Locke to its staff. She will specialize in small group and individual health insurance sales, client support and education. Locke has extensive experience working with small and start-up businesses as a consultant and business administrator.
SALES
BOARDMAN -- Jeannine Janak of Boardman recently became a sales consultant for Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct-sales company based in Alexandria, Minn. Consultants conduct in-home presentations of the company's gourmet food products.
