Winter fun at park
Winter fun at park
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mill Creek Park's Wick Recreation Area is now open for winter recreation from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily.
The warming house (the ice rink pavilion) is open from noon to 9:30 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. weekends with a fireplace, snack bar and arcade.
The park has made artificial snow at the lighted sledding hill there, which features an outdoor fire and separate slope for small children.
The adjacent lighted Par 3 Golf Course will be open for cross-country skiing with natural snow only.
The ice rink will be closed for the winter because of refrigerant leaks in its concrete-encased ice-chilling pipe.
Gifts for kids sought
YOUNGSTOWN -- Beatitude House, a housing and training program for underprivileged women and their children, is seeking donations of new and nearly new items that would make good gifts for children to give their mothers.
Children who reside at Beatitude House will select gifts for their mothers during a Santa's Workshop later this month.
Unwrapped gifts can be dropped off at the Beatitude House office, 1515 Fifth Ave., before Dec. 18.
