Man faces multiple charges after chase
STRUTHERS -- Jason A. Rotan, 25, of Youngstown, will appear in municipal court here for a preliminary hearing Monday on several charges, including trying to elude police.
Rotan was charged with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, possessing criminal tools and operating a motor vehicle while under suspension after a traffic stop about 12:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Police reports say Rotan ran a stop sign at the intersection of Eighth and Lincoln streets. When police attempted to initiate a stop, Rotan pulled into a driveway and fled on foot.
Officers discovered him hiding under a camper parked in the back yard of a house on Eighth Street and arrested him.
Reports state Rotan was carrying a screwdriver that he told police he used to peel the steering column of the car he was driving.
Police were unable to locate the owner of the vehicle, a red 1988 GMC Jimmy.
