Fertilizer distribution plant to expand
LORDSTOWN -- An Ohio company is spending $1 million to expand its fertilizer distribution plant in Lordstown.
The Andersons Inc. of Maumee built the facility in 1998 but now is doubling its storage capacity. It also is adding new bulk handling equipment.
The plant blends, stores and distributes dry bulk fertilizer to distributors in Northeast Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.
The project will create one additional job, although expansions are planned that could add more workers, said Denny Addis, president of the company's plant nutrient division.
The Muth Road facility has one part-time worker and three full-time workers.
The company said the additional storage and handling system will allow the plant to handle more shipments in less time. The company also is adding equipment to allow for liquid fertilizers to be stored and distributed from the plant.
The Andersons sells grain but also has other agriculture-related businesses.
