TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Freshman Anthony Roberson made two free throws with 25 seconds left Friday and eighth-ranked Florida beat Florida State, 58-57.
Tim Pickett's long jump shot bounced high off the rim at the buzzer.
Matt Bonner (5-2) led Florida with 18 points and Roberson finished with 16.Pickett led Florida State (3-1) with 23 points.
He rebounded a missed free throw by Florida's Justin Hamilton with 10 seconds left, dribbled down-court and made a 3-point attempt.
No. 20 Minnesota 79, Bethune-Cookman 52
MINNEAPOLIS -- Michael Bauer had 13 of his 19 points in the first half for Minnesota, whose leading scorer, Rick Rickert, was out with an illness.
Jerry Holman had 15 points and nine rebounds, and Moe Hargrow added 15 points and eight rebounds for Minnesota (4-0).
Minnesota had its defense working well. Richard Toussaint came in leading the Wildcats (1-3) with 22.3 points per game, but he had only 13 on 5-for-21 shooting.
Purdue 85, Middle Tennessee St. 56
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Kenny Lowe scored 16 points and Willie Deane added 15 for Purdue in the first round of the Boilermaker Invitational.
The Boilermakers are off to their first 3-1 start since the 1998-99 season and will play San Diego in tonight's championship game. Purdue has won 10 of 11 Boilermaker Invitationals and has a 22-1 career record in the two-day tournament.
William Pippen led the Blue Raiders (1-5) with 10 points.
Iowa 65, Montana St. 42
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Chauncey Leslie scored 18 points and Glen Worley added 16 for Iowa in the first round of the Hawkeye Challenge.
Iowa (4-1) jumped out to a 15-6 lead and never looked back. The Hawkeyes led Montana State (2-3) by 10 at the half then Leslie and Worley fueled a 24-7 run that put the game out of reach.
The win puts the Hawkeyes in the championship game against Southern Mississippi, which beat Jacksonville 62-61 in the first game.
Wis.-Milwaukee 61, Fla. International 48
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Jason Frederick scored 18 points and Clay Tucker added 14 to lead Wisconsin-Milwaukee past Florida International in the first round of the SMS Pizza Hut Classic.
Frederick was 6-of-8 from 3-point range, scoring all of his 18 points from behind the arc. Tucker was just 4-of-15 from the field, but made all six of his free throws. Lettenberger added 10 points for Wisconsin-Milwaukee (4-2).
Fab Fisher led Florida International with 11 points, and Eulis Baez had 10 points and 11 rebounds. Wisconsin-Milwaukee forced 31 Florida International turnovers.
