Butler routs Indiana State by 20 to remain unbeaten
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) -- Brandon Miller scored 18 points and Darnell Archey stretched his streak of consecutive free throws to 49 as Butler beat Indiana State 65-45 Thursday night.
Miller had 14 of his points in the second half as the Bulldogs (4-0) beat the Sycamores (2-4) for the eighth time in their last 10 meetings.
Neither team attempted a free throw in the first half, but Archey hit all eight of his foul shots and Miller made 5-of-6 free throws in the second half as the Bulldogs pulled away from a 30-23 halftime lead. A basket by Miller gave Butler its biggest lead at 65-43.
Archey, who has not missed a free throw since the 2000-01 season, and Mike Monserez each had 10 points for the Bulldogs. Freshman David Moss led the Sycamores with 19 points.
Butler hit nine of its first 13 shots for a 20-9 lead, but Indiana State scored nine straight points over the next six minutes to cut it to 20-18. The Bulldogs closed the half with a 10-5 run, and Indiana State came no closer than eight points in the final period.
