WEATHERSFIELD Handyman Hardware gets change in zoning
A rezoning will allow construction of a storage building on North Bellwood Avenue.
MINERAL RIDGE -- Weathersfield Township trustees approved a zone change for three lots on North Bellwood Avenue to allow Handyman Hardware on U.S. Route 422 to construct a pole building for storage of stock overflow and seasonal items.
The trustees approved a zone change from residential to a commercial designation that allows offices, banks, funeral homes, small retail stores, barbershops or similar service-oriented businesses.
The zone change had been recommended by the township zoning commission. Carl Leveto, owner of Handyman Hardware, made the request.
Communications
At a special meeting after the Wednesday public hearing on the zoning matter, trustees awarded a $62,371 contract to Cattron Communications Inc. of Sharpsville, Pa., for the purchase of four radioes and antennas for the police and fire departments to improve the signal transmission strength.
The new equipment will be placed at the West Park Fire Station, the township administration building, the McDonald Village Fire Department building and the McKinley Heights Fire Station, trustee chairman Fred Bobovnyk said.
Trustees also awarded a contract to Gledhill Road Machinery Co. of Painesville for $20,210 to pay for equipping a new truck with a planer, an adapter and a dumping bed.
The trustees' next regular session is at 7 p.m. Dec. 17 at the township administration building.
