CHICAGO -- Jocelyn Thibault stopped 28 shots for his fourth shutout and Eric Daze scored as Chicago stopped Ottawa's 10-game unbeaten streak. The Blackhawks had to kill a major penalty to Ryan VandenBussche late in the third period to earn the victory. The shutout was Thibault's 31st of his career, and the first against the Senators this season. Marian Hossa's 13-game point scoring streak ended for Ottawa, which was 8-0-2 during its streak.
Stars 5, Canadiens 1
DALLAS -- Jason Arnott scored three goals, two on setups by Pierre Turgeon, as Dallas remained unbeaten at home in regulation. Arnott had his fourth career hat trick and the first by a Dallas player since Brett Hull scored four goals on March 21, 2001. Jere Lehtinen and Mike Modano added third-period goals for Dallas. Marty Turco made 25 saves, and the Stars killed off all seven Montreal power plays.
Canucks 3, Devils 2, OT
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Todd Bertuzzi got his second goal of the game on a scramble in front of the net 56 seconds into overtime. Trevor Linden also scored, and Dan Cloutier made 24 saves for the Canucks. Scott Niedermayer and Brian Gionta scored for New Jersey.
Panthers 4, Hurricanes 2
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Olli Jokinen scored two goals for Florida, and Viktor Kozlov and Stephen Weiss also scored. Roberto Luongo made 31 saves. Ron Francis and Erik Cole scored for the Hurricanes.
Sabres 4, Mighty Ducks 0
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Curtis Brown scored three goals for the first time in his NHL career, and Martin Biron made 22 saves for his first shutout of the season. J.P. Dumont also scored for Buffalo. Martin Gerber, Anaheim's rookie backup goaltender, made 32 saves. Brown who has six goals in nine games since sitting out Nov. 12, notched his ninth career multigoal game. The shutout was the 12th of Biron's career.
