MERCER, Pa. -- A judge sentenced a Farrell man to prison for several convictions resulting from a June 20, 2001, assault.
McCray Roberson, 56, of Darr Avenue, was found guilty after a trial last month of simple assault, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest and criminal trespassing.
Judge Francis Fornelli of Mercer County Common Pleas Court sentenced him Wednesday to 27 months to 51/2 years in prison.
Court documents say that after breaking into a Stambaugh Avenue, Farrell, residence, Roberson restrained a woman by grabbing her by the throat, dragging her into a bedroom and repeatedly throwing her onto the bed.
When police arrived and she tried to call for help, he choked her. He refused a police order to open the door, making it necessary for police to kick down the door of the residence and the locked bedroom door.
These people also were sentenced:
URichard Couturiaux, 20, of Ulp Street, Masury, was sentenced to one to four years in prison for criminal conspiracy to commit burglary. On June 16, he conspired with a 15-year-old juvenile to burglarize a residence on South Irvine Avenue in Sharon, according to court records. He was given 168 days' credit and ordered to make restitution.
URichard Tingley, 20, of West Main Street, Greenville, was sentenced to one to four years in prison for access device fraud. Between Aug. 8 and Oct. 15, 2001, he used a stolen bank debit card to steal $10,485 by making unauthorized withdrawals on MAC machines in the county, court documents say. He also was ordered to make restitution.
UErika Rossi, 20, of South Cedar Street, New Castle, was sentenced to three months to two years in prison for robbery. Police said she snatched a purse from a woman April 24 at the Wal-Mart in Hermitage. The judge also ordered her to make restitution.
