HORIZON LEAGUE Cleveland State withstands Akron's rally to win 68-65

AKRON -- Walt Chavis and Percell Coles went a combined 6-for-6 at the free throw line in the final 51 seconds Wednesday as Cleveland State held off an Akron rally to beat the Zips, 68-65.
Chavis hit two free throws with 51 seconds to play to widen Cleveland State's lead to 64-56.
He responded to two Akron free throws by John Hollingsworth with two more to make it 66-58 with 38 seconds to play.
Darryl Peterson's 3-point shot off a Hollingsworth assist with 26 seconds remaining got the Zips to 66-61.
Peterson had a free throw with 11 seconds remaining, but Coles had two free throws to make it 68-62, also at 11 seconds. Derrick Tarver, who finished with 14 points, made a 3-pointer for Akron at the buzzer.
Cleveland State (3-3) was led by Modibo Niakate's 20 points. Tahric Gosley and Coles had 12 points apiece.
Akron (2-2) was led by Hollingsworth's 20 points and six assists. Peterson finished with 16 points.
Wright St. 80, Morehead St. 74
DAYTON -- Seth Doliboa scored 25 points as Wright State gave away a seven-point first-half lead and then rallied.
Tyson Freeman had 19 points and Vernard Holland had 18 for Wright State (4-0).
Ricky Minard led Morehead State (2-2) with 20 points. Marquis Sykes had 13, and Chad McKnight had 11.
Morehead State took the lead by starting the second half with a 10-2 run. But Wright State went ahead for good on a 3-pointer by Joe Bills with 7:24 to play.
