RUSTON, La. -- Tennessee held Louisiana Tech to a program low for points scored, and Gwen Jackson and Tasha Butts had 12 points apiece. Tennessee (6-1) handed Louisiana Tech (2-2) its first loss at home in 22 games. Trina Frierson had 12 points for Louisiana Tech -- whose previous low was 44 points in the 1986-87 season. Tech's worst previous loss at home was Tennessee's 19-point victory in 1998-99.
No. 9 Notre Dame 74, Valparaiso 68
VALPARAISO, Ind. -- Alicia Ratay scored 21 points for Notre Dame. Notre Dame (3-0), which converted 30 free throws, managed to hold on despite not making a basket in the final 4:52. Suzie Hammel led Valparaiso (2-4) with 17 points.

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech's Jia Perkins had a career-high 41 points and Plenette Pierson a best-ever 31. Perkins added 12 rebounds as the Lady Raiders (3-1) took command midway through the second half, extending a 67-55 lead to 85-61 with five minutes remaining. Creighton (2-2) got 24 points from Christy Neneman.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Jess Brungo and Tanisha Wright scored 25 points apiece, and Penn State coach Rene Portland got her 600th victory. Portland, at Penn State since 1978, is 600-208 for her 27-year career -- the seventh NCAA Division I coach to reach the 600-win milestone. Kelly Mazzante added 17 points for Penn State (5-1). Renneika Razor had 32 points for Maryland (3-2).

AUSTIN, Texas -- Stacy Stephens had a season-high 17 points and eight rebounds for Texas (2-1), which scored 28 points off 34 turnovers. Tori Talbert led Southwest Texas (1-4) with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
No. 20 Mississippi St. 79, Memphis 63
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- LaToya Thomas scored 15 of her 25 points in the second half for Mississippi State. Thomas moved out outside rather than posting up in the second half and drove inside for the Lady Bulldogs (5-1). Memphis (4-1), which got 25 points from Shannon Hamp, drew no closer than nine after the Lady Bulldogs made their run.

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Jocelyn Penn tied a school record with 50 points, nearly all of them on layups. Penn made 22 of 28 shots, but failed to break Shannon Johnson's 1996 record when her final shot rolled off the rim. Petra Ujheyli added 16 points and 15 rebounds for the Gamecocks (6-0). Wofford (1-4) was led by Brie Bradshaw with 14 points.
