YOUNGSTOWN Man's plea agreement calls for Air Force service

YOUNGSTOWN -- A Campbell man has agreed to enter the Air Force to avoid trials on dogfighting and obstruction of justice charges.
Eithyer Ramos, 19, of Coitsville Road, has been sentenced to six months' nonreporting probation as part of a plea agreement that called for him to enter the Air Force on Feb. 4.
He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals and was sentenced Oct. 30 by Judge Maureen A. Cronin in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
Ramos was one of three people accused of running a dogfighting operation in the city last year. Zaccheus James, 24, of Cassius Street, and Stanley Jones, 20, of South Garland Avenue, each pleaded guilty to dogfighting earlier this year and were each sentenced to 18 months in prison.
A representative from the Ohio Dogfighting Task Force said the three ran an operation in which dogs were pitted against each other for the amusement of onlookers.
Ramos also had been charged with obstructing justice during the investigation into the February stabbing of Jose Morales, 18, of Palmyra Road, Canfield. The charge was dismissed as a result of the plea agreement.
Joel Lassalle, 18, of East Philadelphia Avenue, has pleaded guilty to felonious assault for the stabbing. He is set to be sentenced Jan. 16.
Morales told county deputy sheriffs that Ramos was with Lassalle when he was stabbed.
