NFL ROUNDUP News and notes

Rams: Kurt Warner's forgettable season got worse Monday when X-rays showed he has a broken right hand. Warner will miss at least the next two games. Warner has a hairline fracture that won't require surgery. Although he could play at Kansas City, coach Mike Martz said Warner's pain is too intense. Jamie Martin will start against the Chiefs.
Panthers: Coach John Fox expects to be without rookie defensive end Julius Peppers for the rest of the season. Peppers' appeal of a four-game suspension handed down by the league last month was to be heard today in New York. Peppers was suspended Nov. 14 for using a banned substance.
Bears: Running back Anthony Thomas probably is out for the rest of the season after breaking his left index finger. Thomas, last year's NFL offensive rookie of the year, was injured in the first half of Sunday's loss to the Packers and did not play in the second half.
Dolphins: Quarterback Jay Fiedler will start next Monday night against the Bears after sitting out six weeks with a broken right thumb.
Eagles: Punter Sean Landeta, quarterback Koy Detmer and safety Blaine Bishop are doubtful for Sunday's game at Seattle.
Ravens: Michael McCrary's NFL career could be over after he was placed on injured reserve. McCrary participated in only five games this season because of a nagging knee injury. Chronic knee problems limited him to just 10 games last year.
Broncos: Right guard Dan Neil had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Monday, but coach Mike Shanahan was hopeful he could return Sunday against the Jets.
Chargers: Erratic kicker Wade Richey was released a day after he was benched midgame for sending a kickoff out of bounds.
Jaguars: Quarterback Mark Brunell wore a splint Monday after injuring the middle finger on his throwing hand against the Steelers. Brunell will have tests on the finger and expects that he won't be at full strength for practice Wednesday. Also hurt Sunday were tight end Kyle Brady (ankle), linebacker T.J. Slaughter (knee) and kick returner Elvis Joseph (concussion).
Redskins: Kicker Jose Cortez and punter Craig Jarrett were signed on Monday and kicker James Tuthill was released. Cortez was cut last week by San Francisco. He made 18 of 24 field goals this season for the 49ers, but missed two potential game-winning field goals in a three-week span and lost his job to rookie Jeff Chandler.
Colts: Starting safety Idrees Bashir is expected to miss the next two weeks because of a hamstring injury suffered in Sunday's win over Houston. Two-time rushing champ Edgerrin James is expedted back in the lineup Sunday against Tennessee.
Seahawks: Cornerback Willie Williams is expected to miss two weeks with a sprained right foot. Coach Mike Holmgren said Monday it appeared unlikely linebacker Isaiah Kacyvenski or tackle Floyd Womack, both out with high ankle sprains, will play Sunday against Philadelphia.
Saints: Four injured starters, including quarterback Aaron Brooks and running back Deuce McAllister, will be evaluated day-to-day this week. Brooks has a bruised right shoulder and McAllister played with a sprained right ankle. Cornerback Dale Carter has a mild shoulder sprain in his left shoulder and right guard LeCharles Bentley played on a sprained right ankle.
