No. 3 LSU 68, Fla. International 54
MIAMI -- Doneeka Hodges scored 14 points to pace No. 3 LSU, which took a 10-0 lead but still struggled at times before defeating Florida International in the Thanksgiving Classic. Hodges made 6-of-10 from the field to lead the Tigers. Aiysha Smith added 13 points and 11 rebounds for LSU (5-0). Seimone Augustus added 12 points and Temeka Johnson 11. Dace Cinite scored 12 points for Florida International (2-2). Mandy Shafer, Cormisha Cotton and Ivelina Vrancheva added 10 points apiece. Johnson led LSU's game-opening run with six points. It was build in part on five Florida International turnovers in the first four minutes. The Golden Panthers chipped away at the lead, eventually tying the game at 21 with 7:57 remaining in the half. But LSU was ahead 34-26 at the break and was not seriously threatened thereafter. FIU did cut an 11-point to five with under four minutes to play. But the Golden Panthers went scoreless for more than two minutes down the stretch, and LSU's Ke-Ke Tandy made two key baskets to end all hope for a comeback.
South Carolina 54, No. 18 Boston College 51
CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands -- Cristina Ciocan scored 18 points, and unbeaten South Carolina upset Boston College to win the St. Thomas division of the Paradise Jam tournament. Jocelyn Penn had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Gamecocks (4-0), who never trailed. Jessalyn Deveny led Boston College (3-1) with 18 points, and Becky Gottstein added 15.
No. 4 Tennessee 96, Army 44
SAN JUAN, Puerto -- Kara Lawson led a barrage of 3-point baskets, scoring 20 points as fourth-ranked Tennessee beat Army in the second round of the San Juan Shootout. Lawson made four of six 3-point attempts, and Tennessee (4-1) wound up 12-of-23 from beyond the arc. Gwen Jackson made three-of- four from long range and scored 13 points to surpass the 1,000 for her career. Army (1-3) started well, taking a 6-4 lead. But Tennessee quickly found the range and a 16-point run included two 3-pointers by Brittany Jackson. The Lady Vols had a 25-8 lead with 12:03 remaining in the first half. The Lady Vols play Saint Louis on Sunday for the tournament championship. Army faces the Puerto Rico-Mayaguez in the consolation game.
No. 5 Connecticut 60, Hawaii 53
HONOLULU -- Diana Taurasi scored 18 points to lead fifth-ranked Connecticut over Hawaii in the second round of the Rainbow Wahine Classic. Ashley Battle had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Huskies (4-0), who led by as many as 15 points in the second half. April Atuaia paced Hawaii (3-1) with 17 points, and Christen Roper had 12 points and with 11 rebounds. Hawaii made only 26 percent of its shots in the first half, and trailed by 12 points at the break. But the Rainbow Wahine shot 41.7 percent in the second half, and drew as close as four points late in the game.
Arizona 70, No. 8 Georgia 49
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Arizona's defense limited eighth-ranked Georgia to just eight points in an 11-minute span of the second half, and Julie Brase scored 16 points to help the Wildcats to an upset victory. The Bulldogs (2-1) couldn't find their shooting touch and appeared a step slower than Arizona (2-1), which got 17 rebounds and 10 points from Shawntinice Polk. Kara Braxton led Georgia with 11 points. Arizona's guards took advantage with open jumpers from the outside and its front line scored inside easily. The Wildcats never let up after building an 18-point halftime lead. Dee-Dee Wheeler and Krista Warren added 12 points apiece for the Wildcats. The closest Georgia got in the second half came when Mary Beth Lycet and Braxton scored consecutive baskets to reduce the Arizona lead to 43-29. Christi Thomas added 10 points for the Bulldogs.
No. 25 Cincinnati 79, Middle Tennessee 59
CINCINNATI -- Valerie King scored 14 of her 22 points in the second half as Cincinnati drew away and beat Middle Tennessee. Debbie Merrill added 19 points, K.B. Sharp 15 and Carolyn Alexander 10 for the Bearcats (2-1). Patrice Holmes scored 18 points and Eboni Kirby 12 for Middle Tennessee (1-1). Cincinnati shot 50 percent and had a 20-3 advantage over the Lady Raiders from the foul line. Middle Tennessee shot 48 percent and outrebounded the Bearcats 30-25. But Cincinnati forced 18 turnovers.
No. 22 BYU 51, Weber St. 41
PROVO, Utah -- Erin Thorn scored eight of her 14 points as BYU erased Weber State's final lead of the game, and the Cougars pulled away. Thorn made two 3-pointers and a driving layup to put BYU (3-0) in front 40-35 with 5:49 remaining. Jennifer Leitner added 15 points. Weber State (1-2) was led by Crystal Howe with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Julie Gjertsen added 12 points. BYU struggled offensively in the first half, shooting 29 percent. But Weber State was worse, making just three of 25 shots. Howe made a turnaround jumper and Gjertsen scored as the Wildcats made four of five shots for 25-21 lead early in the second half. BYU went in front again, but Gjertsen made a free throw with 7:14 to play to give the Wildcats a 32-32 tie. Thorn made two 3-pointers to put BYU ahead 38-35. She added a layup off a drive from the left corner for a 40-35 lead. After Leitner added two layups and Julie Sullivan made a third to cap a 14-2 run, the Cougars led 46-35 with two minutes to play.
