YOUNGSTOWN -- Organist Ronald Gould, who is retiring from the faculty of Youngstown State University Dana School of Music, will be guest soloist at a joint concert by Dana Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Wind Ensemble at 8 p.m. Monday in St. John Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave. Admission is free.
Graduating Senior Show
YOUNGSTOWN -- Fourteen seniors who will graduate next month from Youngstown State University's College of Fine and Performing Arts are featured in the Graduating Senior Show that opens Friday in McDonough Museum of Art, Wick Avenue. The exhibit will begin with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and will remain on display through Dec. 20.
Westminster production
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Members of Westminster College's Alpha Psi Omega theater honor fraternity will present "The Trial of Goldilocks" at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday in Beeghly Theatre. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. For reservations, call (724) 946-7241.
Christmas concert
SALEM -- Kent Salem Community Choir and Tapestries of Ohio Inc. will present a holiday concert titled "Christmas Then and Now" at 3:30 p.m. next Sunday at Kent State University Salem Campus Thomas N. Cox Lecture Hall, 2491 state Route 45 South.
The free concert will be directed by Dr. Jeff Nolte and will include traditional favorites, and numbers by soloists and instrumentalists.
Viets Museum program
CORTLAND -- "Christmas in Song and Story" at 10 a.m. Dec. 10 will be the final program in the Morning at the Museum fall series at the Viets Museum, 224 N. High St. A continental breakfast will take place before the program starts.
Pianist Audrey Schinkel will play the Wilhemien Viets grand piano and tell Christmas stories associated with the music.
The museum will be open for those who wish to see the holiday decorations. A donation of $5 is requested. For information call Dorothy Klein at (330) 638-3467.
Met director to speak
CLEVELAND -- Philippe de Montebello, director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, will present a lecture "The Changing Vision of Museums" at 11 a.m. Dec. 12 in Gartner Auditorium at Cleveland Museum of Art.
Tickets are $35 and may be purchased at the museum's ticket center or by calling (216) 421-7350 or (888) 262-0033. The lecture is sponsored by the museum's Women's Council.
Born in Paris, de Montebello graduated from Harvard University in 1958 and New York University's Institute of Fine Arts. He joined the Metropolitan Museum in 1963 and was associate curator of European paintings. He later became vice director of curatorial and educational affairs in 1974 then director in 1978. Under his leadership, controversial at times, the Metropolitan Museum has experienced unprecedented growth and prosperity.
French celebration
YOUNGSTOWN -- Operative soprano Deborah Thomas, a Youngstown native, will be the featured entertainer during a Christmas celebration to be held by Le Cercle Francais on Dec. 21 at the Youngstown Club, 301 E. Commerce St.
The event will include an hors d'oeuvres reception at 5:30 p.m., a cash bar, and dinner of pork tenderloin, chicken francaise or baked scrod at 6:30. The concert will follow with George Harris as pianist.
