MACOMB, Ill.-- Attley Lawson ran for 104 yards and a TD and also caught a pass for a score Saturday to lead Western Illinois to a 48-9 win over Eastern Illinois in the Division I-AA playoffs.
Western Illinois (11-1) took control early by scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter. Lawson had a 5-yard run to cap a seven-play, 70-yard drive to put the Leathernecks up 7-0.
Quarterback Russ Michna scored from a yard out to make it 14-0 and later threw a 23-yard TD pass to Lawson as Western opened up its big lead and took a 27-2 halftime cushion.
Western Illinois held Eastern Illinois (8-4) to only 56 yards rushing.
W. Kentucky 59, Murray St. 20
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Jeremi Johnson rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown for Western Kentucky.
Maurice Bradley had three 1-yard touchdown runs -- two in the first quarter -- as the Hilltoppers (9-3) took a 24-0 lead. Western Kentucky rushed for 350 yards as a team, while Murray State gained only 103 yards on the ground.
The Hilltoppers defense started strong, holding the Racers to just 19 yards on 14 plays and no first downs in the first quarter.
The Hilltoppers play in the second round next week at Western Illinois.
Fordham 29, Northeastern 24
BROOKLINE, Mass. -- Matt Fordyce kicked a Division I-AA playoff-record five field goals and Kevin Eakin threw for 269 yards and a touchdown.
Tim Gale scored on a 1-yard run with 52 seconds left to get the Huskies to 29-24, but Fordham's Akeen Greenfield recovered the ensuing onside kick.
Villanova 45, Furman 38
VILLANOVA, Pa. -- Villanova rallied with 24 fourth-quarter points, and Terry Butler's 5-yard touchdown run with 58 seconds left gave the Wildcats the victory over Furman in the first round of the Division I-AA playoffs.
Gordon was 27-of-40 for 250 yards and three scores for Villanova (10-3), which erased a 17-point third-quarter deficit against Furman (8-4).

Montana 45, Northwestern St. 14
MISSOULA, Mont. -- Herb Fernandez returned an interception for a touchdown and Jefferson Heidelberger returned both a punt and a kickoff for a score.
Montana (11-2), co-champion of the Big Sky Conference, meets the winner of the first-round game between Montana State and McNeese State.
Fernandez tipped a pass by Kevin Magee and returned it 16 yards for a 21-0 lead with 7:06 left in the second quarter, forcing Northwestern State (9-4) out of its running game.
Defending national champion Montana, coming off a two-game losing streak, took a 35-0 lead on Heidelberger's 68-yard punt return with 7:47 left in the third quarter.
Northwestern State, of the Southland Conference, got its first touchdown on an 8-yard run by Derric Johnese with 1:24 left in the third quarter.
Montana went up 38-7 with 14:18 remaining on a 29-yard field goal by Chris Snyder.
