Guild's bazaar raises$14,000 for hospital
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Jameson Junior Guild raised $14,000 for new hospital equipment at its annual bazaar.
Guild members have not decided what they will buy, said Betty Leslie, bazaar chairwoman.
Among the more popular raffle items at the bazaar were a handmade quilt and a handmade teddy bear.
The guild is a private philanthropic group set up to benefit Jameson Hospital.
Drive-through Nativityfeatures 10 scenes
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A drive-through Nativity scene is planned for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 8 at King's Chapel United Methodist Church, on the corner of Old Pulaski Road and Wallace Drive.
The event consists of 10 scenes depicting the first Christmas with live actors and animals.
The display is set up around the church's parking lot so visitors can drive through it. For details or directions, call (724) 658-7569.
Jennings staff, visitorsto view animals' homes
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Jennings Education Center staff will meet visitors at 2 p.m. Dec. 8 for a look at many architectural creations formed by animals.
The staff will explore some of the similarities and differences between our homes and an animal's, the materials used to build them and what makes the dwellings work.
The staff said visitors will be amazed at the form and function of animal homes.
Jennings is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and as scheduled on weekends .
The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset for hiking and other environmental activities.
Hubbard schedulestree lighting, parade
HUBBARD -- Two holiday events are scheduled for the city.
The holiday tree lighting will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at CVS Pharmacy at state Routes 304 and 7/62. There will be refreshments and caroling.
Santa's parade will be at 3 p.m. Sunday. The route will be from Hall Avenue, west on Liberty Street to School Street, ending at Roosevelt School.
Santa will be at the city administration building directly after the parade. Refreshments will be served. Photographs with Santa are $3 each.
