BOARDMAN -- The gospel music team of Reg and Gretchen Dunneman will lead the worship music at Glenwood Methodist Church on Sunday School Rally Day, at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 8. The Dunnemans, of Binghamton, N.Y., sing a mixture of hymns and Southern gospel, traditional, classical and contemporary Christian music at over 120 concerts a year.
Reg, a native of Stratford, Ontario, Canada, sang with the Galileeans, a Southern gospel quartet, for 20 years. Gretchen has performed with the BC Pops, the Binghamton Symphony Orchestra and the Tri Cities Opera, all in Binghamton. The Dunnemans have produced several recordings including "Victory in Jesus," "He Set Me Free," and "There's Something Going On." Call (330) 726-2643.
McDonald's GospelChoir Competition
CLEVELAND -- McDonald's of Northeastern Ohio, in conjunction with Cuyahoga Community College, presents the free 2002 McDonald's Gospel Choir Competition grand finale from 1 to 4 p.m. next Saturday at The Allen Theatre in Playhouse Square.
The grand finale is the end of preliminary gospel choir competitions that were held in Youngstown, Canton and Cleveland in July and August.
Greater Friendship Baptist Church took first place this year in the Youngstown competition, as it did last year. Locally, second place was taken by the Weaver Brothers.
The winning choir wins $1,000, a professional studio demo recording, and will be named the 2002 McDonald's Gospel Choir of the Year.

Informal service begins
COLUMBIANA -- The Way Station will offer an informal worship service on Saturdays beginning Sept. 14.
Joe Congemi, The Way Station chaplain, said the services will be at 6 p.m. and include a meal, children's programs and informal worship for adults.
The staff planned the services at The Way Station on Saturday evenings to avoid a conflict with Sunday services at area churches. Volunteers are needed to provide music and a message for the services, he said.
"We hope this is a ministry area pastors will support, and they will get their local congregations involved," Congemi said. "Our philosophy is to reach people who don't go to church and might not be comfortable in a formal setting. We aren't trying to take people away from other churches."
Congemi said that if people come to The Way Station service and feel comfortable there, they may want to find a church to attend.

Teen Challenge banquet
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Rev. Jonathan Moore, the senior pastor of Highway Tabernacle in Austintown, will be the speaker at the 15th annual banquet sponsored by the Teen Challenge International Ohio/Pennsylvania Crisis and Referral Center. The banquet will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church.
The Rev. Mr. Moore is a Struthers native who for seven years had been a missionary in Senegal, Gambia, Liberia and Sierra Leone. The banquet will also include testimony from a recent Teen Challenge program, and an update on the overall ministry.
