Hawgs to play Pigs in benefit game

AUSTINTOWN -- Harley riders and Austintown police officers will have the seventh annual "Hawgs vs. Pigs" Swine Classic benefit softball game at noon Sept. 8 at the Cullianan Field, North Raccoon Road and Four Mile Run Road.
Losers must kiss a pig.
A home run derby precedes the game at 10 a.m. Registration for the derby, open to the public, is $5 at 9:30 a.m.
The event also will feature a concession stand and a disc jockey. Bring your own chair.
Organizer Gary Dezee (a Hawg) said registration, concession gains and donations collected at the game will go to the family of Joshua Walker, 5, of Austintown, who lives with metachromatic leukodystrophy, a debilitating and painful disease that attacks the brain and causes loss of muscle control.
There is no cure for Joshua's disease, which he's had since he was 2, and his prognosis is death in three to six years. He is now confined to a wheelchair, eating through a feeding tube.
