The Penguins struggled Thursday night to beat Division II Clarion 27-14 before 17,834 fans, the largest season-opening crowd at Stambaugh Stadium. YSU led 20-0 at halftime but then was outplayed by the Golden Eagles in the second half, leaving second-year coach Jon Heacock disappointed.
