Man faces charges in hit-skip fatality

YOUNGSTOWN -- Charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident have been filed against Gary R. Davis, 43, of Cannon Road, Austintown.
The warrants were issued Thursday after an investigation by Detective Sgt. Patricia Garcar.
Davis is accused of striking and killing Cheryl A. Rockney, 49, of Kenmore Court, Austintown as she walked on the sidewalk in the 1200 block of Oak Street about midnight last Thursday. Information supplied by witnesses led police to Davis' home shortly after the accident.
Davis and his 2000 dark green Pontiac Montana were taken to police headquarters downtown. He was questioned there and the van was inspected. The right side of the van's windshield is caved in and shattered.
