STONEBORO FAIR | Schedule of events



The 135th annual Stoneboro (Pa.) Fair opened with the mile run held on the race track. Stoneboro is in eastern Mercer County near Sandy Lake. Amusements of Buffalo started up the rides at 7 p.m. Wednesday night, as the milking contest, sponsored by the Mercer County Dairy Promotion Committee, began at the other end of the fairgrounds in the milking parlor. An opening ceremony at 8 p.m. in the grandstand marked the official start-up of the five-day event. Gate admission is $6. That includes parking, rides and all shows.
The remaining schedule:
EVERY DAY
Rides; concessions; antique tractor, machinery and sportsman displays; petting zoo; hay, pumpkin, wool and silage shows; chain-saw wood carving; agriculture, livestock, farm, group and commercial displays.
THURSDAY
9 a.m.: Exhibit judging for baked goods, canned foods, flowers, vegetables, farm crops, fruit, honey, maple products, needle crafts, arts and crafts, photography, wool, grange and 4-H.
6 p.m.: Baked goods auction at 6 p.m. in the Ibbs Agricultural Building; antique tractor pull, center field.
7 p.m.: Dairy fitting and showmanship awards, Mohney Arena.
7:30 p.m.: Nationwide Demolition Derby, grandstand.
FRIDAY
8:30 a.m.: dairy cattle judging.
1 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.: Elephant encounter, center field.
7 p.m.: Antique tractor pull.
7:30 p.m.: Demolition derby.
SATURDAY
8 a.m.: Judging in the categories of draft horse halter, light horse halter, pony halter, hitch classes, grooming and showmanship.
10 a.m.: Junior Polled Hereford show for western Pennsylvania; Open Beef Show; showing of sheep, swine and goats. All in the Mahoney Arena.
11 a.m.: Harness racing, race track.
1 p.m.: Rabbit show, center field.
2 p.m.: Kids' minitractor pull, center field.
2, 4, and 6 p.m.: Elephant encounter, center field.
2:30 p.m.: Antique tractor pulls, center field.
8 p.m.: Country music concert featuring national artist David Ball, grandstand.
9 p.m.: Bob Minor and the Country Tradition will call the square dance, Mohney Arena.
10 p.m.: Gigantic fireworks display.
SUNDAY
Noon: Harness racing and a horse show.
1 p.m.: Traveling Shoes clogging show, center field.
2, 4,and 6 p.m.: Elephant encounter, center field.
2 p.m.: Free sundaes while they last, sponsored by the Mercer County Dairy Promotion Committee, Mohney Arena.
8 p.m.: David Martin's Bull Ride-a-rama, grandstand.
10 p.m.: Fireworks display.
MONDAY
10 a.m.: Grande Cavalcade Parade, grandstand.
1 p.m.: Draft horse obstacle course, horse ring; Grass Fire bluegrass band.
2, 4 and 6 p.m.: Elephant encounter., center field.
3 p.m.: Performance of Broadway Dancer Mark Holland and a kids' minitractor pull, center field.
4 p.m.: Classic and southern rock music, followed by antique tractor pull, center field.
5 p.m.: Wild Rose band performs, center field.
6:30 p.m.: Stock and hi-performance stock truck pull and stock tractor pull, grandstand.
