Highlights of Wednesday night's board of education meeting:
Superintendent Marty Santillo reported this week's resumption of classes went smoothly, except for some transportation glitches.
Most building principals reported pupil population at average or above average. Prospect Elementary School is average with 459 pupils, the intermediate school is down about 30 with 410 pupils and the junior and senior highs are above average with a total of 900 pupils.
Granted one-year limited contracts to Kara Lynn Saleman, physical education/health teacher; Diane Marie Sproviero, nurse and Denise Sybelnik and Lorraine DeChellis, special-education teachers.
Approved one-year limited supplemental contacts to Sandra J. O'Neill, intermediate school detention supervisor; Kris Doran and Marc Fritz, volunteer junior high assistant football coaches; Tony Canterino, assistant junior high football coach; and Athena Denny, volunteer ninth-grade volleyball coach.
Withdrew from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, saving a $750 annual membership fee. Santillo explained that membership was once needed to help students get accepted to college, but is no longer needed because of state educational requirements.
