FASHION Q & amp;A
Q. I have several good blouses and sweater sets that I have been wearing to work with linen skirts during the summer. Now I'd like to buy fall skirts to go with the tops, which are mostly in shades of off-white, camel, tan and black. Any suggestions as to style and color?
A. A skirt that hits close to the knee is appropriate for the office. An especially flattering style that is showing up in many fall collections is a straight or slightly A-line skirt with a ruffle at the hem. In a fall fabric such as wool or a wool blend, the ruffle looks feminine but not frou-frou.
Black, gray and a variety of brown shades would work with your blouse and sweater collection. So would forest green and many shades of red. Of course, a tweed or plaid fabric in several of those shades also would look attractive.
