Trustees post strip-club law

AUSTINTOWN -- A proposed resolution regulating adult businesses is set to appear on the township's Internet site.
Township Trustee David Ditzler asked Township Administrator Michael Dockry to place the resolution on the Internet site after local residents and members of the township's zoning boards asked questions about it at a meeting Monday night.
The resolution would require all strip club owners and employees to receive a license from the township zoning inspector before working in the township. In addition, the resolution would prohibit strippers from dancing totally nude and from touching customers.
Under the resolution, strip clubs also couldn't operate within 500 feet of a religious building, schools and universities, an area zoned residential, a public park or playground, another strip club or a business that offers primarily family entertainment in the township.Trustees are slated to read the ordinance for the first time Sept. 9.
Township officials also are working on a zoning ordinance which would require new adult businesses to be built within 4,000 feet of the intersection of Interstate 80 and state Route 46. That ordinance is expected to be presented to the Mahoning County Planning Commission at its September meeting.
