LOWELLVILLE -- The Lowellville Day Committee is seeking participants for its parade, which will begin at 1 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Lowellville Paul J. Menichini Football Field and march along Wood Street to City Hall. Participants should arrive between noon and 12:15 p.m. and register on Cooper Street.
The Lowellville Day celebration will also feature live entertainment provided by Dominic Tocco and the Brotherhood Band and an address by Joe DeRosa, National Basketball Association official and Lowellville native.

Meet Mahoning Valley
YOUNGSTOWN -- Registration is being accepted through Oct. 11 for the next Meet the Mahoning Valley, Oct. 18. The program, offered by Leadership Mahoning Valley, is a unique opportunity for relocated executives or professionals and their spouses to learn about our community with a small group of colleagues during a one-day period. Beatitude House grant
YOUNGSTOWN -- Beatitude House, a not-for-profit organization sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters, has received a $30,000 grant from the Raymond John Wean Foundation for continued support of The Potter's Wheel, an education and career preparation program in Warren.
Located at First Presbyterian Church in Warren, the program is designed to help disadvantaged women develop and identify personal, achievable, economic and lifestyle goals. It offers a variety of services including counseling, case management, life-skills training, computer literacy, parenting programs, communication skills and financial management.
Beatitude House provides transitional housing for homeless women with children and an education/career preparation program for homeless and disadvantaged women in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

Speaker at dedication
ROOTSTOWN -- Tommy Thompson, U.S. secretary of health and human services, will speaks at the dedication of the Ralph Regula Conference Center at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. The $6.2 million conference center opened in June and is named after U.S. Rep. Ralph Regula, who helped secure federal funding for the building. Regula is chairman of the appropriations subcommittee for the Department of Labor, Health and Human Services and Education.
Thompson served four terms as governor of Wisconsin before taking the post in President George Bush's Cabinet in 2001.
