DENVER -- Chris Carrieri scored on a 30-yard pass from Carlos Valderrama in the ninth minute and David Kramer had six saves as Colorado beat San Jose.
Zach Kinsley scored on a header off Mark Chung's corner kick in the 66th minute. Chung scored on a penalty kick against Jon Conway in extra time after Joe Cannon was ejected on a red card for tripping Seth Trembly on a breakaway.
It was Kramer's second shutout of the season for the Rapids (11-10-3), who trail the Western Division-leading Earthquakes (13-8-3) with four games remaining.
Revolution 2, Fire 1
NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Daouda Kante scored in the 89th minute to lead New England.
Working inside the six-yard box, Kante sped ahead of defender Jim Curtin to head Steve Ralston's corner kick past goalkeeper Zach Thornton for his first MLS goal.
Curtin opened the scoring in the 50th minute, leaping above the New England defense to head Ante Razov's free kick past goalkeeper Adin Brown. After replacing Rusty Pierce in the 59th minute, Wolde Harris evened the score in the 65th minute.
Harris got behind Fire defender C.J. Brown and used a pass from Winston Griffiths to score from ten yards.
New England (8-14-1) moved to within four points of the MetroStars for the final MLS playoff spot. It was the first time all season that the Revolution won after allowing an opponent to score the first goal.
The Fire (10-10-4) remain in first place in the Eastern Conference and lost at home for the first time since June 22.
Burn 1, Galaxy 0, OT
DALLAS -- Bobby Rhine scored eight seconds into overtime. Jason Kreis fed the ball to Rhine, who put a low shot past Galaxy goalie Kevin Hartman for the Burn (11-6-7), who moved into second place in the Western Conference one point ahead of Los Angeles (12-9-3). Los Angeles could have clinched a playoff berth with a win. Dallas outshot Los Angeles 13-3, but Hartman made 10 saves. In the first half, Dallas had seven shots on goal to Los Angeles' two.
