BOARDMAN -- Kristine Robin Smith and Thomas A. Akers Jr., both of Laramie, Wyo., exchanged marriage vows during a ceremony at 2 p.m. July 27 at the gazebo in Boardman Township Park. Jean Trebilcock officiated.
Parents of the bride are Victor and Donna Smith, 3323 Belden Ave., Youngstown. The groom is a son of Gale Van Fosson of Youngstown and Thomas Sr. and Yvonne Akers of Panana City, Fla.
The newlyweds left for a honeymoon in Niagara Falls, Canada, after accepting congratulations during a reception at The Elm Tree in Struthers.
A cathedral train highlighted the bride's satin gown, which was accented with lace and pearls and designed with a sweetheart neckline.
Wendy Jenkins of Boardman was honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Burkey of Youngstown, the groom's sister; Jennifer Boccia of Las Vegas, the bride's cousin; Stacie Simerlink of Youngstown; Tricia Hannon of Coldwater; and Jessica Fisher of Laramie. They wore plum-colored dresses.
Mark Van Fosson of Youngstown performed the duties of best man for his brother. Groomsmen were James Newton of Kent, also the groom's brother; Victor and Jacob Smith, both of Youngstown, the bride's brothers; John Jones of Canfield; and Daniel Fronius of Youngstown, her cousin.
Mrs. Akers is a graphic artist employed by The Laramie Boomerang. She attended Youngstown State University.
The groom graduated from Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie.
