Police: Woman bit, hit store workers

BOARDMAN -- Three Giant Eagle employees were treated for injuries after a shoplifter bit, kicked and punched them as they tried to stop her from leaving the store.
Township Police Lt. J.D. Heaver said the woman was taken to the Mahoning County Jail upon arrest at about 4 p.m. Tuesday. He said the woman would be charged with robbery later today at an appearance in Mahoning County Court here. She had tried to leave the Doral Drive store with hamburger, cheese, chopped ham, crescent rolls, wine and cigarettes in her purse.
Police reports say the shoplifter punched, kicked and bit a 30-year-old security guard employed by the supermarket, who suffered a bruised and swollen arm.
A 37-year-old employee suffered eight bites to his hands, and a 54-year-old employee was kicked, bitten, punched in the head and knocked to the ground, where she hit her head on the floor. All three were treated at the St. Elizabeth Heath Center site in Boardman, police reports show.
