SALEM Police recover stolen safe and cash

SALEM -- Police have recovered a stolen safe and identified three suspects in the crime, but no charges will be filed.
The victim in the case, Dave Ventresco, owner of V's Roadhouse and city council president, is choosing not to file charges against the men, Detective Bob Brown said today.
Brown declined to say why Ventresco isn't filing charges. Ventresco was unavailable to comment late this morning.
The safe, containing an undisclosed amount of cash, was reported stolen Monday from V's Roadhouse, a restaurant at 2488 E. State St.
Police investigated and identified three men, ages 18 to 21, as suspects. Two are from Salem and the other is from the Leetonia area.
One of the men worked at the restaurant and provided a key to enter the business.
Through interviews with the suspects, police were led to the safe, which was recovered Wednesday night from the Salem Reservoir off Gamble Road in Salem and Center townships.
All the money had been removed from the safe. The stolen cash has been recovered, but officials are not disclosing the amount, Brown said.
