HOWLAND -- Dr. Richard S. Kattouf, a Howland optometrist, has pledged $150,000 to the Illinois College of Optometry, Chicago.
Dr. Kattouf's gift is the largest single commitment by a living ICO alumnus. The school named Primary Eye Care Suite No. 1 at its clinical arm, the Illinois Eye Institute, in honor of the Kattouf family. He has served on the board of trustees at ICO since 2000.
Dr. Kattouf received a doctorate in optometry in 1972 fro ICO, before which he received a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University in 1965 and a bachelor of visual science degree from the ICO in 1969.
Dr. Kattouf's children are both optometrists. Daughter Valerie is a professor at ICO and practicing optometrist at the College's Illinois Eye Institute. His son, Richard II, is in private practice with his father. Both are graduates of ICO, class of 1997 and class of 1995, respectively.
